Last friday, Matthew Lu represented LinkCC as the president in heart of welcoming Mr. Lu and Mr. Wang, both ambassadors from China traveling to Canada. He shared his vision and discussed LinkCC’s future with both the ambassadors. Both of them were very supportive of this program and are ready to endorse it. Good job Matthew!

President Matthew Lu delivered a speech at the Christmas Party.
Hey everyone! I’m glad to have been able to see you all face-to-face! Link CC is all about helping youth international students . Our team will try our hardest to help you to merge your life in Canada easier ! I also would like to thank the volunteers for coming to our event and helping to organize the event! Another huge thank you to the parents for supporting us and picking up and sending people. Without these people this event would not have been possible!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

It can be hard to adjust to a foreign culture in a foreign country. For junior and senior high students, it is difficult to integrate into a strange land. However, things can go awry. A few years ago, a student came from China to study in Canada. She had never been separated from her parents for more than a couple days, and so was not used to spending time alone. She missed her friends and her family that remained in China and stayed up all night messaging and chatting with them. As a result, her grades suffered, her health dropped, and her guardian family could not handle her. Eventually, she disappeared and has not been found since. While this is an extreme case, it could have been prevented if she had a friend and guide of a similar age, or a counselor to lead her through this difficult period of adjustment. International students can often feel out of place, since they may not have a firm grasp of English, or do not understand the school system and the subjects that they teach, as well as feeling alone, surrounded by people who have lived in Canada all their lives. In addition, they may feel lonely, since most of them are leaving behind their friends and family for the first time. LinkCC strives to aid these international students, and assist them in adjusting to Canadian life and culture.
Thanks to everyone that went to support the Bikini Ski fundraiser! We raised $1546 dollars for the Breast Cancer Society, almost double our goal!

Despite its short time span, attendees got to bond over board games such as Tic-Stac-Toe, Settlers of Catan and more. There were also snacks provided that contributed to the festive atmosphere. We also invited an experienced speaker to talk about the current pandemic and properly educate us on what is currently happening. It was an event that helped attendees’ bond and get to know each other as well as properly understand the current situation through credible sources.

As Edmonton began another long winter, the community’s lives gradually became as bland as the snow that filled the streets. Other than the usual winer chores, one’s life seemed to revolve around the bedroom, with relaxing becoming the only option. However, the members of LinkCC were able to discover the fun of snowy days from the long and boring winter. As a result, they met up at Hawrelak Park on New Year’s Eve to show the world the right way to open up to winter life.
Coincedentally, there was also an international studentfrom Beijing enjoying the event’s candies. He seemed to have thought of something. He reached out and dipped a huge cherry into the steaming pot of syrup, and when he took it out, his cherry was already coated with sugar. He half-smiled and declared that this was an authentic sugar cane gourd. However, at the moment of saying this, a drop of unsolidified sugar liquid fell from the cherry onto the ground, melting the snow.
After dipping all kinds of unusual snack into the maple syrup, everyone agreed to take a relaxing walk on the frozen river. Frankly speaking, walking on the river where there are wild ducks playing a few months ago still plants a lingering fear in everyone’s hearts. It’s always possible that when the ice surface suddenly cracks, everyone will slip and dive into the cold lake like a funny cartoon. Fortunately, even if a car tried driving across the river, the thick ice surface would be still intact.Tip-toeing across the surface of the ice, they kicked the snow covering the surface away to see a smooth and translucent mirror. Although no one wore skates, everyone could slide back and forth while standing on bare ice. We took a photo of this icy world. After a half-hour walk on the river, everyone returned to the room. With rosy cheeks, the sound of a squeal from a kettle surprised everyone. Soon, all of them carried a cup hot cocoa in their hands. Everyone was excited to take out the various board games they brought, and started a killer game of scams around a simple stone table. During this period, the cherry tomatoes, family-loaded potato chips, fruit platter, and large bottles of happy house water disappeared along with the rest of the highly unhealthy snacks, without a trace. Those who felt depressed for a long time while being snowed in at home, could release their unhappy feelings with such a simple activity. In the hut sitting by a bitter ice lake, the roar of a joyous group’s hyper activities gave the winter of negative 53 degrees a little warm spring breath.
LinkCC Youth Community looks forward to creating more exciting events with you in 2020!
September 22, 2019, we hosted an event for students to learn about programs and opportunities. At this event with over 30 attendees, we had presentations regarding:
World Scholar’s Cup Competition
National Ambassador Youth Forum
Math Competition Introduction
Summertime Feels and How to Remember Them
City of Edmonton Youth Council
Harvard vs. Stanford: How to Spend Your Summer
Each of these had unique and experienced speakers present and informed many youth and parents about exciting chances to expand horizons. This gave students the chance to get real insight on what these programs are and their benefits.
