
Ella came to Canada in 2001 to advance her education and received an M.Sc degree from Dalhousie University. She was an honoured recipient of the Governor’s General Academic Gold Medal. Before coming to Canada, Ella had been a teacher in Beijing for 8 years and gained extensive experience working with students. Ella is passionate about education and has been an Education Consultant with Onward English in Edmonton since 2013. Before this, Ella had 7 years of managerial experience with a large corporation in Canada, where she deepened her knowledge and skills in ISO quality systems, lean management, team building and career development. Ella devotes much time and energy to helping students and is also actively involved in her community in many other aspects.

Matthew Lu is a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill honours program, full IB student graduated from Old Scona Academic High School, Duke of Edinburgh Gold award recipient, RCM Alberta Gold recipient for Speech and Drama in 2018 and 2017, Ambassador for SHAD, and Ambassador for Yale Young Global Scholar. Matthew loves helping people and has been volunteering weekly since grade 6. As a very active member of the community, Matthew has been involved in the election of MP and school trustee and is an advocate for youth. Matthew also loves outdoor adventures, badminton, and video games!

John Li is an avid volunteer within the local Calgary community and dedicates his time to various charitable causes and non-profit organizations. He holds a bachelor’s of science in engineering and has recently obtained his master’s degree in business from the University of Calgary. Specifically, he is a strong supporter of immigrant education and post-arrival settlement support and is the current serving Vice President of the Board at the Calgary Immigrants Education Society. John has also been a guest speaker in a variety of classrooms ranging from both high school to post-secondary and has both worked and volunteered as an instructor and academic coach for young adults and mid-career professionals looking to make a change. Professionally, John has led and managed teams both large and small at several well-known Calgary-based corporations. In his spare time, John is an amateur athlete and has competed in road cycling, speed-skating and dragon-boat. John also enjoys coaching dragon-boat and is currently the coach for several Calgary- based teams, including TD Bank and Stantec.
