The current coronavirus outbreak, with more than 500 000 cases worldwide as of 26 March 2020, has caused widespread distress to economies and jobs around the world, devastating individuals and communities alike.
Chief among those most at risk are our medical professionals who treat the sick. They have the greatest exposure to COVID-19 and yet are most critical in our medical response. Many hospitals are in great need of extra equipment, most of which is personal protective equipment such as N95 masks and gloves. In New York, a nurse, Kious Kelly, died after being forced to resort to trash bags as protection, refusing to stop caring for victims of the virus.
To help ensure that medical professionals have the tools that they need to treat victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, and out of respect for those who have sacrificed the most, Link CC Youth Society is coordinating a cross-Canada fundraiser to raise funds for hospitals. Edmonton’s recipient will be the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
As of 26 March 2020, in Alberta there are 486 cases, around 3 weeks behind Italy. With your help, we will stop Alberta from becoming the next Italy. Your donation will help stop the spread of this disease, save lives, and return life to normal.
